Throughout history, every human creation, whether a wheel or a spear or a shoe, began as an idea. That’s as true today as it was for our cave-dwelling ancestors. Over time, however, technology has eroded the period of labor that separates the light-bulb moment from the finished product. Today, thanks to 3D printing, we can give a design tangible form simply by pressing a button — no elbow grease necessary. Even to a technologically savvy denizen of the twenty-first century, it can seem very much like magic.

3D Printed Stool Holds 220 Pounds

Aug 12, 2011 - An Israeli company has produced a folding stool to demonstrate the capabilities of the 3D printing process. The demonstration shows that development of better materials is rapidly moving 3D printing into more of a mainstream tool for production of low volumes of complex assemblies. The stool can support more than 220 pounds.

Objet Geometries' 260 Connex 3D Printer Puts Two Different Materials in One RP'd Object

July 12, 2011 -The future will be so advanced that this will be one of those commercials circulated on the 2061 version of a blog and laughed at, whether for the breathless descriptions of our 2011 cutting-edge technology or the somewhat strained presentation. But future mockery aside, here's the current state-of-the-art RP technology being presented by Objet Geometries: The 260 Connex Multi-Material 3D Printer, which can product two discrete materials into one form.
